Evolvement ❘ Promoting a tobacco-free New Mexico

Hello, My name is Abigail Sedillo, I am a freshman in Dulce High school and this is my first year in Evolvement. I joined Evolvement to make an impact and help stop the youth usage of nicotine and tobacco products not only in schools, but also in everyday life. The training process is really simple and quite fun to do and participate in. I have participated in several fun training sessions and also a school board meeting. I have several friends in Evolvement and I’m hoping to introduce Evolvement to Escalante High school and several of my friends.

At the training we collected 3 valid Support Cards for No Minor Sale and also surveyed other students by collecting 24/7 photo pledges. I think my favorite part of the training was when my friends and I went around the school surveying other students and earning points for it. A few things I took away from this experience was how the fun training was and the school board meeting where I had a voice and I could help make a difference to help schools/districts to be completely nicotine and tobacco-free. Evolvement has benefited not only myself but also my fellow Evolvement students by helping make a difference and helping other students be tobacco and nicotine free. New Evolvement students may be expecting something similar to the training we had involving the surveys, and fun activities such as setting up tables at events, and also attending important meetings.

Returning Evolvement students should continue to show up to training so they can learn more and also make a bigger difference. Another reason I think they should continue to show up is to experience fun opportunities such as the leadership team summit in Albuquerque where we’ll learn about networking, leadership, and public speaking. Not to mention, the Evolvement team is super friendly and helpful! I hope to be in Evolvement for several years to come and I’m also hoping to encourage fellow students to join Evolvement.
